Vaure vs Doppler: two offline music players for iPhone
Both are offline players for music files you own on iPhone, and both play FLAC and ALAC. Choose Doppler if you want a one-time purchase, Last.fm scrobbling and a mature app with a long track record (iOS 26 or later). Choose Vaure if you want on-device recommendations from your own library, import from any computer through a browser, access to a NAS over SMB or WebDAV, a free plan, or support for iOS 17 and later.
We make Vaure, so we have tried to be exact about Doppler and to say where it is the better pick. Everything about Doppler below comes from its App Store page and its website, checked on November 4, 2026.

Choose Doppler if
- You'd rather pay once than subscribe.
- You scrobble to Last.fm.
- You want an app with years of updates and thousands of reviews behind it.
- You also want a Mac version of the same player (Doppler for Mac is sold separately).
Choose Vaure if
- You want the player to choose what comes next from your own music — Vibe runs on the iPhone, without a connection.
- You copy music from Windows PCs or computers you don't own: Drop Web needs only a browser.
- Your collection lives on a NAS or home server (SMB, WebDAV, Nextcloud).
- Your iPhone runs iOS 17 or 18.
- You want to start for free and only pay if your library outgrows the free plan.
What both do well
Both keep music on the phone and play it with no signal, read tags and covers from your files, let you edit metadata on the iPhone, and handle lossless FLAC and ALAC without conversion (more on FLAC). Neither can play Apple Music or Spotify tracks: both are players for files you own.
